PepTalk, The Protein Science Week, is one of the largest annual gatherings of protein science researchers in the world. The conference is celebrating its 20th year next month. While the 20th year may not look as imagined, PepTalk will be offering a “fully integrated virtual event”. The virtual event is designed to facilitate the aspects of the annual conference that attendees have grown to love, including speaker presentations, research posters, live Q&A sessions, breakout groups, 1:1 networking, and an interactive exhibit hall.
PepTalk provides 6 different conference program tracks centered around protein science. The program tracks range from protein engineering development to aggregation and impurities. RheoSense Principal Scientist, Dr. Stacey Elliott, will be speaking in the “Protein Aggregation and Emerging Analytical Tools” track. “The popular 12th Annual Protein Aggregation and Emerging Analytical Tools conference covers the latest trends, challenges, and solutions in understanding characterization and mitigation of problems generated by protein aggregation in biopharmaceuticals (PepTalk).”
Dr. Elliott will be presenting “Probing Protein Aggregation with Shear Rate & Temperature Dependent Viscosity Measurements”. Her presentation discusses how viscosity measurements reflect changes in protein-protein interactions (PPI) and the resulting microstructure. The cluster arrangements commonly formed by inherently attractive proteins have a predictable effect on both shear rate and temperature dependent viscosity measurements. She will illustrate these effects with model protein solutions formulated with individual amino acid excipients to modify PPI and aggregate structure. Analysis tools ranging from qualitative to semi-quantitative will also be presented to assess the impact of formulation components on molecular scale behavior.
RheoSense will also be exhibiting in the PepTalk Virtual exhibit hall January 19 – 21. The virtual exhibit hall is open each day from 8:45am – 3:40pm PST with dedicated virtual exhibit viewing from 11:40am – 1pm PST. We encourage you to come by our booth and chat with us! We would love to connect, share our newest application notes and data, and discuss the importance of viscosity in protein aggregation and other applications.
